      Pigs & Kids October 12

      Join us for a fun afternoon of activities! Get to know the pigs and chickens who call Dominion Sanctuary "home" and have a fun afternoon at our sanctuary! 1:30-2, Parking, nametags, waivers 2-4:00, Piggy time, hike, crafts, games, snacks Tickets are $15 each for each child attending. Up to two adults joining the kids are welcome to make any optional donation at the event, no adult tickets needed. Up to two adults may join your group/family for no cost. For larger adult groups, please come instead to one of our sanctuary tours Parent/guardian or other responsible adult must stay with children. It is okay if your child brings (or goes with) a friend's family. Activities include: - Spend time with & learn about the pigs; get hands on experience with the pigs in small groups & offer them snacks if interested - Kid-friendly hike through the woods with a scavenger hunt & educational Q & A - Play organized active games and thoughtful animal-based games - Get creative with age-appropriate crafts or cupcake decorating - Learn about landfills and the importance of recycling - Enjoy simple, delicious, plant-based snacks Every child goes home with either a goody bag or a participation prize that they choose after the nature hike Q & A. We will have merchandise, animal lover decals, gemstone jewelry, and possible baked goods available for purchase, all purchases support the sanctuary. Important info: All ages welcome; parent/guardian or another responsible adult or family friend must stay with children. No ticket needed for babies in arms or strollers, with a participating child. Advance ticket purchase required, please get your tickets early to help us plan! Attendance is limited to 30 children. Parking & waivers is from 1:30-2, activities are from 2-4:00. Please do not arrive before 1:30. Please leave your companion animals at home- the pig and chicken residents react differently to unknown furry friends. Bring a water bottle! * A liability waiver will be required on the day of the event. An allergy questionnaire and form with kids names & ages will be sent to you.* It will be in google doc format, but can be sent as a regular email with the information needed if you prefer. * Event may be cancelled between 2 days prior and 10 am the morning OF THE EVENT in the case of rain; if cancellation must occur, you will have the option to leave it as a credit for a future sanctuary event, transferred to the next Pigs & Kids on 11/2 (same time), or offered as a donation to the sanctuary. When signing up, be sure to include the best phone number options to call or text if a last minute cancellation is necessary. Accessibility note- parking and the sanctuary land is all level. The hike/scavenger hunt is on trails with some muddy areas and tree roots to navigate. There is no bathroom on ground level, bathroom has a minimum of 6 steps (no hand rails.) A Meijer store is 5 minutes away and has accessible bathrooms. We reserve the right to deny access to anyone treating others with disrespect. Questions are normal as we explore, learn and experience the animals and activities together but outright comments of violence or cruelty will not be tolerated. Dominion Sanctuary is a 501(c)(3) non-profit animal sanctuary on a 12 acre property in Sparta. We are about 5 min. north of the Rockford Meijer store right on Pine Island just north of Fonger. This event is possible with the support of the Pollination Project; your ticket purchase is a donation that helps us care for the animals and grow our sanctuary. Your donation can be refunded up to 7 days prior to the event if needed. We can't wait to see you!
